Fervo Energy's Cape Station, the first utility-scale enhanced geothermal plant, achieved commercial operation in September, validating the technology and clearing a major risk milestone. The developer plans to cut costs from ~$7,000/kW to $3,000/kW through manufacturing-like repetition while scaling to gigawatt-scale capacity.
